Duisburg/Hamburg, 18 June 2024 – Garbe Industrial Real Estate GmbH has newly leased an existing property in the Port of Duisburg, Germany. The Worms-based logistics specialists TST will move in. The company, which operates 75 logistics centres across Germany, will use the site from August for two existing customers from the fast moving consumer goods sector.
The property, which was taken over by Garbe Industrial Real Estate in 2020, was re-let without any vacancies. It is located in the Ruhrort district at the intersection of the Rhine and Ruhr rivers. The property has a hall area of around 15,000 square metres. There are also just over 1,600 square metres for offices and social rooms. The logistics centre is equipped with 20 gates for the loading and unloading of trucks.
“We are delighted with this seamless follow-up leasing,” says Thorsten Wagner, Asset Manager at Garbe Industrial Real Estate: “The good structural condition of the property and the location make the site extremely attractive.” The Port of Duisburg is one of the most important logistics hubs in Europe today. Thanks to the trimodal connection, it has developed into the leading inland hub for the entire continent in recent years.
The logistics property leased to TST is located in the immediate vicinity of two container terminals. The A 40 motorway is only a few hundred metres away. It connects the location with the Dutch border to the west and with the Ruhr area cities of Mülheim, Essen, Bochum and Dortmund to the east.
A green lease was concluded with TST. Among other things, the lease agreement, which is geared towards sustainability, stipulates that a high-performance photovoltaic system is to be installed on the roof of the existing property to generate renewable energy. “It was a decisive criterion for us to be able to integrate the site into our sustainability strategy,” says Karin Eulenbruch, Vice President Sales & Business Development Contract Logistics Germany at TST. One of several projects the logistics company is planning is a nationwide e-charging network for trucks, which will be powered by electricity from roof-mounted PV systems.
The brokerage company Anteon Immobilien acted as an intermediary in the leasing process.
