Garbe Industrial Real Estate acquires plot in Bitterfeld-Wolfen

Hamburg/Bitterfeld-Wolfen, 13 April 2021 – Garbe Industrial Real Estate GmbH is intensifying its activities in Saxony-Anhalt. In Bitterfeld-Wolfen, 30 kilometres north of Leipzig, the Hamburg-based real estate specialist has acquired a 200,000 square metre plot of land ready for construction. A logistics property with a hall area of up to 110,000 square metres is to be built on this site.
The site is located in the so-called Technologiepark Mitteldeutschland (Technology Park Central Germany), which is one of the largest commercial and industrial locations in Saxony-Anhalt with a total area of around 300 hectares. So far, companies from the materials development, automotive and solar cell industries have settled there.
The 200,000 square meter site acquired by Garbe Industrial Real Estate is the largest area available in the Central German Technology Park. “With the purchase of the land, we are continuing our expansion strategy,” emphasises Jan Dietrich Hempel, Managing Director of Garbe Industrial Real Estate. “Due to its central location, good transport links and excellent growth prospects, Bitterfeld-Wolfen is undoubtedly an up-and-coming location in the Leipzig-Halle logistics region that will continue to benefit from the ongoing strong growth. In addition, as the land shortage continues to worsen, there are fewer and fewer opportunities to allow for a total building area of more than 100,000 square feet.”
The Technology Park is located only a few hundred metres from the junction to the A9 motorway. It is one of the most important north-south axes, connecting Bitterfeld-Wolfen in a southerly direction with Leipzig, Nuremberg and Munich and in a northerly direction with the Greater Berlin area. It is about 30 kilometres away from Leipzig-Halle airport.
Bitterfeld-Wolfen is the second location in Saxony-Anhalt where Garbe Industrial Real Estate is active. A logistics centre with a hall area of 84,000 square metres is currently being built in Sülzetal near Magdeburg. The first construction phase, for which the first tenant, Edeka Minden-Hannover, has already been determined, is scheduled for completion in the third quarter.
