Garbe Industrial acquires logistics site from IKEA in Werne

Together with a group of institutional investors, Garbe Industrial Real Estate GmbH has acquired the logistics site from IKEA in Werne. The area with approximately 130,000 square metres of lettable space has until now been used by an American e-commerce company.
Due to its logistically interesting location, the approximately 300,000-square-metre area holds enormous potential for resettlement. “In the eastern Ruhr area, there are hardly any connected areas of this size that can be used for logistical purposes. We have the flexibility here to relet the existing halls, as well as to develop up to 95,000 square metres of new space, “says Christopher Garbe, Managing Director of Garbe Industrial Real Estate GmbH. “As one of the leading managers and developers of logistics real estate, we look forward to this challenge.”
With this transaction, Garbe Industrial Real Estate GmbH now manages more than 3.1 million square metres of lettable industrial and logistics space in Germany. “This is the result of our organic growth in recent years and a vote of confidence from our investors and our tenants who have successfully accompanied us over the past few years. In the future, we want to continue on this path of controlled progression in all our business areas,” notes Christopher Garbe.
When purchasing the logistics site, Garbe Industrial Real Estate GmbH was legally advised by the commercial law firm Eversheds Sutherland’s Hamburg office. The technical purchase audit was performed by the project management and consulting firm Drees & Sommer. The transaction was brokered by JLL, Düsseldorf.
