GARBE Renewable Energy Collaborates with ADLER Smart Solutions to Install Four Photovoltaic Systems

Hamburg, 14 September 2022. GARBE Renewable Energy – GREEN GmbH (GREEN), a subsidiary of GARBE Industrial Real Estate (GARBE), completed another four roof-mounted photovoltaic systems. In collaboration with its partner ADLER Smart Solutions, a company specialised in holistic photovoltaics and charging infrastructure solutions specifically for the real estate industry, GREEN successfully brought four roof-mounted systems with a combined output of 13 MWp on-stream. The PV systems were installed on top of logistics properties managed by GARBE. They are located in the German towns of Burscheid (2.1 MWp), Walsrode (4.4 MWp), Magdeburg (4.3 MWp) and Rheinberg (2.0 MWp). Contracted in late 2021 to implement the roof-mounted photovoltaic systems, ADLER managed to commission them as full feed-in systems by July and August of this year. Due to their size, the plants successfully participated in the tender of Germany’s Federal Network Agency (BNetzA).
Michael Sorg, Head of Renewable Energies at GREEN, said: “In times of great energy uncertainty, runaway electricity costs and the already demonstrable climate change, the real estate industry has a special responsibility to implement efficient and sustainable solutions as quickly as possible.” Sorg went on to say: “We are therefore glad to have completed four new roof-mounted systems. These will lower the carbon output by a combined total of about 4,800 tons annually.”
Tajo Adler, founder and managing director of ADLER, said: “The expansion of renewable energies in Germany should be stepped up on a massive scale, on the one hand to lower CO2 emissions and, on the other hand, to roll back the dependence on energy imports from abroad. To accomplish this, we need a hands-on mentality of the sort that we see in our daily interaction with our partner GREEN. Especially policymakers and authorities need to take a more active stance. Otherwise, it will be quite impossible to set up a renewable energy supply as alternative to foreign imports on short notice.”
GARBE has set itself the goal to supplement its in-use logistics properties with roof-mounted PV systems and to ensure that all new-build assets principally include solar arrays from the start. The company puts the volume of potentially suitable roof surfaces at about six million square metres. This would suffice to install a PV capacity of 400 to 600 Megawatts for sustainable power production. With these systems successfully connected to the grid, the further implementation of large-scale solar arrays is making good progress. Michael Sorg elaborated: “GREEN and ADLER plan to add roughly another 18 MWp before the end of 2022.”
